Prince William County Landfill Reconfiguration Update

Prince William County is implementing a modification to the Solid Waste Facility Permit for the Prince William County Sanitary Landfill. This reconfiguration follows the previously approved Phase IV plan and includes County-owned parcels acquired in 2022. The updated layout maintains a large protective 1,000-foot buffer from nearby property lines—far above the state minimum requirement. These changes ensure long-term environmental safeguards and extend the landfill’s operational capacity by about 30 years.

A detailed map of the reconfigured landfill area is available for download as a PDF.

The video provides a clear overview of the updated landfill boundaries and explains how the new configuration supports enhanced community and environmental protection. It also highlights where the reconfigured Phase IV area is located in relation to surrounding properties.
