The Teaching Garden at the Benedictine Monastery
9535 Linton Hall Road, Bristow VA 20136

Celebrating 25 years, the Teaching Garden is located on the grounds of the Benedictine Monastery and is a project of the Prince William Master Gardener Volunteers. The Teaching Garden began as a garden to grow fresh produce for the Plant a Row for the Hungry project and a place where Master Gardeners could teach homeowners how to grow vegetables. Today the Teaching Garden provides an aesthetically pleasing, well-designed, educational garden space through which Virginia Cooperative Extension Prince William staff and Master Gardener volunteers can demonstrate and provide classes on a wide variety of recommended horticultural and water quality practices for the benefit and education of the greater Prince William community.

Master Gardeners are at the Teaching Garden maintaining the various garden beds every Tuesday morning, Thursday evening and on some Saturdays from March through October.  If you'd like to schedule a visit with a Master Gardener, please email [email protected].

During the growing season, April through October, we offer short classes each month, "Saturday in the Garden".  These classes provide information on a wide variety of topics such as turf maintenance, vegetables, ornamentals, pests and diseases, and wildlife.  Periodically we will also offer special classes for children.  You can view a map of the Teaching Garden bed layout. View upcoming events at the Garden as well as other horticulture classes offered by the Master Gardeners.
