Dispute with Building Contractor
The Building Development Division does not have authority to resolve disputes between customers and contractors. We issue permits, review plans, and conduct inspections to ensure the contractor works within code requirements. If you are dissatisfied with a contractor because of his bill completion, schedule performance, or the final appearance of your project, you will need to seek assistance through the state or an attorney.
- If you would like to file a complaint or seek advice, contact the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.
- You may also contact the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
- In addition, you may want to seek legal counsel with an attorney.
- If the contractor completed work without a permit you should contact Building Code Enforcement at 703-792-6931.
