Learning is fun! Put your Head, Hearts, Hands and Health to greater good with a 4-H Service Learning Project. Not only will you do good for the community, but you will take pride in the journey and become an even better citizen and leader. A 4-H Service Learning Project is documented community service that begins by identifying a need, setting a goal, creating steps for the project, and assessing the process and how well you met your goal.

Why Choose a 4-H Service Learning Project? A 4-H Service Learning Project transforms your good deeds into learning moments. Understanding donation collections, organizing volunteers, distributing goods, and more, further develops your understanding of the needs of the world around you and how you can impact the community.

What Can be a 4-H Service Learning Project? Any community service can be a  4-H Service Learning Project. The  only difference is planning, documenting, and assessing.

STEPS TO A 4-H SERVICE LEARNING PROJECT

  1. Review Virginia 4-H’s guide Conducting Community Service Learning Projects.
  2. Use the appropriate PW 4-H Project Record Book to record your goals, track your activity, and reflect on your learning.
  3. Submit the 4-H Project Record Book, or add it to your 4-H Portfolio, for judging at the end of the 4-H year in September.
  4. Be proud of your contribution to the community. Add your experience to your resume!
