Building Development Fees

BUILDING DEVELOPMENT FY27 FEE SCHEDULE: EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2026 - JUNE 30, 2027
BDD FEE SCHEDULE (FY27)

In accordance with Section 36-105 and 15.2-1427 of the Code of Virginia, Prince William County has adopted the Building Development Fee Schedule to defray the cost of enforcement of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code.  The Building Development activities supported by the fees include: plan intake, plan review, permitting and inspections.

Refunds

INSPECTION FEES, OTHER

  1. Inspections
    1. After Hours Inspection- Inspections may be conducted after normal work hours by BDD inspectors with special approval and when arranged in advance.  The fee for each inspection to be conducted shall be applied separately for each discipline inspected and is payable in advance.  Two hour minimum. 

Fee shown is per hour.

  1. Fire Protection

(Two hour minimum weekdays and Three hour minimum weekends.)

 

 

  1. Post Concealment Inspection Analysis, per permit.

III. BUILDING FIRE SUPPRESSION FEES

Payment Methods

Payment can be made using cash, checks, or credit/debit cards for all development related fees. However, credit card payments for bonds and/or escrows (including lot escrows) will not be accepted (cash or separate check only). Checks should be made payable to ‘Prince William County’ or ‘PWC’. Only the following credit/debit cards will be accepted for land development fees: Master Card, Visa, and Discover.

Special Inspection Program Fee Criteria

In order to determine which fees will be applied to Special Inspection Projects “project(s)” are defined below. The bulk of projects will fall into a “project' category. However smaller jobs may fall into the 'itemized' category. Please refer to the Building Development Fee Schedule for the current fees associated with the Special Inspections Program (SIP).

The various items for Building Projects will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Controlled fill
  • Footing and foundation
  • Structural concrete
  • Masonry
  • Structural shell/pre-engineered building
  • Spray-on fire-proofing
  • Smoke control
  • Exterior Insulation Finish System (EIFS)
  • Other

The various items for Retaining Walls will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Footing and foundation
  • Backfill
  • Concrete
  • Compaction testing
  • Reinforced earth and geogrid
  • Masonry
  • Geometry
  • Layout
  • Guard rail
