"Some Things Your Neighbor Should Not Have to Look At!"

Most residents of the County know that there are just some things your neighbors shouldn't have to look at. Be a considerate neighbor and take the following actions to make your yard clutter free!

In order to comply with County Property Codes residents should take care to ensure that:

  • Tools and lawnmowers are put away in a garage or shed and are out of sight after use.
  • Construction materials are either donated, removed or recycled after projects are completed.
  • Bags of trash and trash cans are to be stored at the side or back of the dwelling, or are screened from view by plants such as evergreens, or are placed behind a solid fence. (Remember also to roll the cans out to the curb on pick-up day and return them to their appropriate storage place as soon as you can after pick up.)

OUT OF CODE OUTDOOR STORAGE CREATES A VARIETY OF PROBLEMS

A frequent complaint in our neighborhoods is what the County Code terms as 'outside storage.' Outside storage provides shelter for rodents and insects that can affect our health. Outside storage creates safety concerns for those who approach the home. Outside storage clutters the yard and renders the space unsafe. Outside storage detracts from the appearance of the home as well as the surrounding neighborhood. Outside storage sends a negative message to people looking to buy homes in the neighborhood and can diminish the value of the homes in the area. Also, outside storage invites criminals to target the neighborhood since it appears no one cares about properties in those areas.

So what are you going to do with all of that stuff?

  • Organize, sort and reduce possessions that require storage.
  • Store items indoors, garage or shed, or behind areas that shield from view of others (Remember that sheds and fences require zoning approval.)
  • Reduce things no longer needed.
  • Recycle.
  • Take unwanted materials to the County Landfill.
