Display Your Art
Thank you for inquiring about exhibiting at Prince William Public Libraries (PWPL). All artwork will be reviewed for exhibition consideration. Exhibits should contribute positively and enrich the Library environment.
Exhibit areas are available at Bull Run, Central, Dumfries, Lake Ridge, Manassas City, and Montclair Libraries for hanging art on an equitable basis regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use. The Library endeavors to present a broad spectrum of opinions and viewpoints, however, exhibition does not imply endorsement.
The artist is responsible for delivery of all selected artwork as well as pick up of artwork when the exhibit is over. The branch will decide placement of the intended artwork.
PWPL may include information about the current exhibit on the website, on posters, and various other media outlets. Any advertising to outside sources is the responsibility of the artist with PWPL staff approval.
In recognition of the opportunity to display artwork at the Library, a donation to the Friends of the Library is appreciated, but not required.
PWPL's decision on what will be displayed in its exhibit spaces will be final.

Exhibiting Artwork and Exhibitions
Prince William Public Libraries (PWPL) celebrates art for its aesthetic value and its role in fostering community engagement. Public art promotes creativity and facilitates conversations that cultivate connections within our community. This policy outlines PWPL’s approach to selecting, presenting, acquiring, or borrowing works of art and exhibitions for temporary display in library facilities.
- Organizations and individual artists interested in displaying art on PWPL art walls should align with our strategic goals, programs, and values of inclusivity and community engagement. Preference will be given to government, health, welfare, educational, and cultural agencies. Exhibition does not imply endorsement by PWPL and PWPL reserves the right to deny the use of the space.
- The application process for displaying art is available at https://www.pwcva.gov/department/library/display-your-art.
- Display cases and designated exhibit areas are reserved for County and program partners only. PWPL reserves the right to regulate the size, number of items, schedule, and frequency of display by artists or organizations, with library activities given scheduling priority. PWPL’s decision on what will be displayed in exhibit spaces will be final.
