Proctoring Services

Prince William Public Libraries (PWPL) offers test proctoring at six of our libraries. To make an appointment for proctoring, find out your institution’s proctored exam requirements, then call or visit one of our libraries listed below at least one week before your test date.

Please review the following information and guidelines:

  • Please bring a photo ID to verify identification at the time of the exam. Also, bring any necessary or required supplies to take the examination.

  • PWPL cannot provide one-on-one monitoring of test takers or visually monitor the student during the exam.

  • Paper exams are administered in a public study area, and online exams use the library’s public computers. Public computers may not be modified for test proctoring purposes. PWPL cannot guarantee that technical problems will not occur when using a library computer.

  • Test takers are responsible for any printing and mailing costs associated with the exam. Please provide a postage-paid envelope to return paper exams if the institution has not provided one. Allow 7–10 days for standard USPS mail delivery.

  • Exams must be completed 30 minutes prior to closing. Branch hours can be found here.

  • PWPL cannot proctor state Real Estate licensing or Driver’s Education/Improvement exams.

  • If the student misses an exam appointment, the librarian will reschedule at a date and time convenient to both parties. The student may only request a substitute proctor in an emergency.

  • PWPL reserves the right to refuse a proctoring request if the requirements exceed our capability.
